Apprendere un metodo per potenziare il pensiero etico: alla scoperta del metodo VaKe (Values and Knowledge Education) Grazia Ghellini,laureata in lingue e letterature straniere presso l’Università di Bologna, dottorato in letteratura inglese e studi culturali presso l’Università di East Anglia. Vive in Francia, è formatrice interculturale e docente di Business Ethics e Cross-Cultural Business. Autrice di varie storie di dilemma, con metodo VaKE, aiutando studenti ad esplorare temi interculturali ed etici. Il workshop esperienziale ed interattivo darà l’opportunità ai partecipanti di scoprire e sperimentare il metodo VaKE (VAlori e Knowledge Education). Progettato presso l’Università di Salisburgo, VaKE è un ottimo strumento basato su storie di dilemma per educatori, consulenti e formatori; promuove il pensiero critico e mantiene uno di adottare soluzioni già pronte nel processo decisionale. L’evento di 4 ore consentirà ai partecipanti di acquisire conoscenze teoriche e pratiche del metodo, facendoli lavorare da vicino su una storia di dilemma. L’occasione per fornire loro alcuni suggerimenti su come utilizzare VaKE nel loro campo professionale. 10th International Symposium for Young Researchers in Translation, Interpreting, Intercultural Studies and East Asian Studies

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the forthcoming International Symposium for Young Researchers in Translation, Interpreting, Intercultural Studies and East Asian Studies<http://pagines.uab.cat/simposi/en>, which will be held on the 21st June 2019 at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is March 11th, 2019.. Abstracts must be submitted using the on-line form<http://pagines.uab.cat/simposi/en/content/submission> available at the website of the symposium.

This symposium for young researchers is aimed at students who have recently begun their research as M.A. students, PhD students or those who have recently completed their PhD theses. The purpose of this symposium is to provide a scientific forum within which the next generation of researchers can exchange ideas and present their current research in the field of Translation, Interpreting, Intercultural Studies or East Asian Studies.

We invite proposals for papers relating to the research interests of the Department of Translation and Interpreting & East Asian Studies (UAB), namely:

The symposium languages are English, Catalan and Spanish.

Participants should limit their presentations to 15 minutes to allow time for Q & A and comments by the audience.

No proceedings will be published. All participants will receive a certificate of attendance. A further certificate will be given to those who present papers.

Attendants who are also registered in the PhD Summer School at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona<http://jornades.uab.cat/escola_doctorat/en> (June 17-21 June, 2019) do not have to pay registration fees, but they will have to fill in and submit the symposium registration form.

Call for Papers International conference "Model Rome – International Capital Cities of Science and Arts in the 20th Century" Rome, 22.-24.10.2019 The German Historical Institute and the German Archaeological Institute in Rome in cooperation with the Unione internazionale degli istituti di Archeologia, Storia e Storia dell’Arte in Roma are inviting interested scholars to attend the international conference on "Model Rome – International Capital Cities of Science and Arts in the 20th Century" The conference will take place in Rome from 22 till 24 October 2019. The conference aims to analyze centers of international Research within the sciences and humanities and cultural exchanges connected with the fundamental questions of the history and science, beyond the traditional histories of institutes. To illustrate the range of possible questions and contributions, but not to limit them, the following key questions provide some guidance: the attractiveness of metropolises as places of international culture and research institutions: expectations, resources, programs; the dynamics of internationalization of science and humanities between national interests and international exchange: networks and transfer, competition and conflicts; the politicization of research and cultural activities abroad against the backdrop of major political and societal upheavals. We welcome proposals from (young) researchers of all scientific disciplines who are working on the outlined topics above. Interested scholars are invited to prepare theoretical contributions as well as empirical research findings from the fields of history of science, history of institutions and cultural history. Abstracts of up to 300 words along with a short CV (up to 100 words) should be sent in until 28 February 2019 to convegno.unione. A scientific committee will choose from among the applications. The program of the conference will be published in April 2019 consisting of the approved contributions. The talks should not exceed the duration of 20 minutes. The working languages of the symposium will be Italian and English. A simultaneous translation for the two working languages will be provided.
