The Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics will hold its annual summer meeting
from the 19th through the 22nd of June, 2017 in Tampere, Finland, at the University of Tampere, where it is being co-sponsored with the University of Turku.
Abstracts for twenty-minute presentations on any area pertinent to the linguistic study of pidgins, creoles, converted languages, mixed languages, and any other type of contact language are invited for anonymous review.
This time, a section about translation is included for the first time.
An abstract of no more than 500 words (not including title or data examples) should be submitted using EasyAbs. The submission link is spcl2017. Include "abstract for SPCL Finland 2017" in the subject line. The abstract submission deadline is December 31st, 2016. Acceptance notification will be sent by January 31st, 2017.
The organizers are now planning a memorial tribute to distinguished Trinidadian creolist Mervyn C. Alleyne, and invite contributions and papers dealing with his impact on creole linguistics.
Our confirmed plenary speakers are Marlyse Baptista (Michigan) and Michel DeGraff (MIT).
In addition to the plenary sessions with invited speakers and thematically-organized sessions, this meeting will feature an intensive mini-course designed for students engaged in or planning to engage in fieldwork projects in which primary data will be collected.
