The Association of Translation Companies annual meeting, Translation Industry – evolution not revolution, will take place at the ground of cup-winning team Chelsea Football Club on Friday, 27th September with a networking dinner at the stadium the night before on Thursday, 26th September.
The conference will focus on the changes being faced by language service providers in an increasingly challenging business environment. With clients demanding faster turnarounds, lower prices and even better customer service the pressure on margins has never been so great. The organising committee is seeking papers covering all aspects of the translation and interpreting sector and how it should evolve to meet the challenges. Ideally we wish to include presentations covering such topics as:
Marketing, sales and positioning your LSP
Streamlining and improving the operation of LSPs
Getting to grips with an LSP’s financial operations looking at such issues as:
– cash flow
– raising finance
– optimising foreign exchange transactions
Expanding your LSP business through acquisition – the pluses and minuses
Planning an exit strategy and realising the full potential of your investment
HR – recruiting the best and motivating your staff
Promoting productive relations with sub-contractors and integrating them with the home team
Driving change through technology and ensuring a Return on Investment (ROI)
The quality agenda – how can EN15038, ISO 17100 and 11669 be harnessed to increase margins and secure long term customer loyalty
If you wish to put forward an idea for a paper to cover these or other related topics that would fit into the overall theme of the meeting please email a brief outline (250 – 350 words) along with a short biography to: generalsecretary by Friday, 31st May.
